DPhil description: My DPhil project investigates the witnesses to the DS scholia on the Aeneid and aims at shedding new light on the history of this tradition. This study is also meant to lead to a more accurate understanding, on one hand, of DS non-Servian material and, on the other, of the interests of the Compiler and his revisions. Furthermore, it appears to make it possible to propose corrections to the text adopted by editors and to trace hitherto unpublished material which, in some cases, preserve valuable information on Greek and Roman culture and literature and ultimately derive from ancient sources.
