My research centres around ancient Greek sex and sexuality, with a special focus on the dialogues of Plato. I work on the intersection between medical texts and Platonic erotic discourse in order to trace the percolation of ancient Greek scientific thought on reproduction and sexual process through the Platonic corpus.
My broader research interests include Platonic political philosophy, epistemology, ethics, myth, and rhetoric, as well as Greek lyric poetry (especially that of Sappho and Alcaeus), Hippocratic gynaecology and the Hippocratic body, Greek medicine, and ancient theories of beauty and vision.
