Dr Simon Shogry

Academic Background

For my B.A. I studied philosophy at a small liberal arts college in Southern California (Claremont McKenna College), where I was introduced to Plato, Aristotle, and the Hellenistic thinkers. I subsequently completed the intensive summer Greek and Latin courses at UC Berkeley. I obtained my Ph.D. in Classical Philosophy from Princeton University in 2016. Before coming to Oxford in 2017, I was a postdoctoral researcher at Princeton University and a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania and the College of New Jersey.

Research Interests

Stoic logic, epistemology, and ethics; Epicurean epistemology and ethics; Platonic epistemology and moral psychology; Aristotelian moral psychology; Epictetus; Seneca’s philosophical works.
