Dr Alison John

My main interests are the history and literature of the late antique West. My doctoral work examined classical education in late antique Gaul, and I am currently preparing a monograph based on my PhD thesis. My new project focuses on Greek-Latin bilingualism in the West in Late Antiquity. I am also interested in Latin literature and literary history more generally.

Roman history; Late Antiquity; Bilingualism; Cultural History; Literary History; Later Latin Literature; Ancient and Medieval Education.

I welcome enquiries from students interested in researching topics in late antique history, later Latin literature, or bilingualism in the late antique and early medieval West.
